Julia (October / November 2000)
Dream: I was at an airport in the departure lounge wandering around looking for the lift. I heard an announcement: "Fly Impulse and people vomit on your lap". This didn't seem to phase me! I was with someone (a friend) whose identity I couldn't quite work out - they were sort of there and sort of not. I was aware of their presence but not much else. I found the lift and got in. The walls were orange and there was a large window in the far wall, outside it was bright. I stood in the lift wondering why it wasn't going anywhere and pushed the button on the panel to go to the 6th floor. The lift still didn't go anywhere and I realised that it only went a couple of times a day. According to the panel of buttons, the next time was 6.30 in the evening, hours away - it was in the morning. I was a little irritated by this but stood in the lift to wait anyway. I was leaning against the wall facing the window with my back to the entrance and the other person was leaning against the wall between me and the window. The wall I was leaning on now had a mirror on it which I didn't take any notice of - I was just conscious of it being there. I started to get quite annoyed about having to wait for the lift to move, when suddenly there was a rush of people getting into the lift, all holding dinner plates with their meals on them. I realised I must have been lucky and that this lift was scheduled to go right away. I thought all the people who had just go in with me must have known the system better that I did. I could then feel the lift going up, which is where I woke up. A similar theme ran through a dream I had the night before. I was traveling in the back seat of a car with my brother...and a postcard. I sat facing him, looking out his window. Outside it was bright. I think the colour of the seats was blue but it didn't seem important. I was most concerned about the contents of the postcard, sitting on the seat between my brother and I, which basically implied that my brother was having an affair with my best friend (who is about to get married). It had a picture of a sunset on it - all shades of orange.
Quentin's Diagnosis: Dear Julia, Do you squash your impulsiveness because people put you down for it? The lap is the seat of sexual energy and as for vomiting in you lap, you're not phased by it. You are a good thinker, able to access your higher self by choosing to go up in the lift. The 6th floor - 6 is the number of relationships, endings and beginnings or half past relationships next lift being 6.30pm. Your biological clock is ticking and yet it's hours away. There's someone waiting for you and you just have to be in the right place at the right time. Orange is the colour of wants and aspirations and there's a window of opportunity facing you, even if you can see it from where you stand. Your basic instinct is good and you're smart enough to trust your instincts and say "I can do it". The mirrored wall is saying look within yourself to see what you really want. Have patience and wait for the blockages to lift. Dinner plates is to do with being nurtured. The luck you have is your instinctiveness in going towards what you want. You have reason to feel optimistic about the brightness of your future. With the second dream you are taking a back seat and surrendering your power to males in your life. You see your brother as more important than yourself in the scheme of things. Perhaps parental conditioning of the male having preference and getting what he wants and you not getting what you want. Blue represents identity which to you didn't seem important. It's time for you to take control of your own direction, be the driver and make your own choices. A postcard of this nature could be glossing over a truth of some kind. A brief adventure may have taken place away from home. Once again orange was the theme of things, all your hopes and dreams are there to be realised.
