Chakras

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that literally means ‘wheel’ and describes the energy vortexes that comprise the etheric layers of our aura, running like a series of spinning wheels up our body and spinal cord.

There are seven main chakras in the human body. it is through these chakras that the kundalini energy rises up the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra will absorb all colours and reflect back one or another, thus we can associate particular colours with each centre.

Energy blocks which occur in our chakra centres will over a perod of time, create physical dis-ease. The origin of this blocked energy and aliveness can easily be traced back to our negative thoughts, beliefs and experiences, or withheld emotions we are unable to consciously acknowledge. There are many methods of picturing these wheels of light that flow through our bodies. The colours used for the individual centres vary considerably from culture to culture yet their essence remains the same, just as our negative beliefs, emotions, thoughts and feelings that we don’t wish to acknowledge consciously manifest in the body. They particularly accumulate in the glandular or chadra centres where they produce blockages. Over time these blockages create illness or result in permanent damage or injury.

There are differing opinions as to which colours and beliefs correspond with which chakra. This chart is based on one Jim Dvorak put together in 1987. My advice is to experiement until you discover a system that works perfectly for you.
